Our Story

Why We Started Birmingham Surveyors UK

Birmingham Surveyors UK was founded in 2009 with one clear mission: to make professional property surveying in Birmingham genuinely accessible, honest and useful for everyday buyers and sellers.

Our founding director had spent years working for larger national firms and kept hearing the same thing from clients: "I got a report, but I still have no idea what it means." Too many RICS home surveys were full of legalese, boilerplate disclaimers and condition ratings without any real explanation of what to do next.

We set out to change that. Today, our Birmingham surveyors produce reports that clients genuinely understand — and follow up every single report with a personal phone call to walk clients through the findings. It sounds simple, but it is surprisingly rare.

Today our Birmingham office handles over 300 surveys a year across the West Midlands, covering everything from RICS Level 2 HomeBuyer Surveys on modern flats to complex Level 3 Building Surveys on Victorian industrial conversions.

James founded Birmingham Surveyors UK after 12 years in the industry. With deep roots in Birmingham and the surrounding West Midlands area, he oversees complex building surveys and commercial assessments, and personally reviews every report before it leaves the office.
